Jhanjay Ballard (2)

Posted by steve in 4 Feb, 2010

During a recent visit to Jhanjay Vegetarian Thai in Ballard (5313-B Ballard Avenue NW), I had the Jhanjay Noodles — delicious, beautiful food:

Wide rice noodles wrap around a filling of corn, peas, mushrooms, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and tofu. Served with a spicy sweet & sour sauce.

Swedish Medical Center/Ballard broke ground last September for a new medical office building on Tallman Ave. NW just off of NW Market St. The facility is expected to open in the fall of this year. Progress to date:

A rainy day

Posted by steve in 24 Jan, 2010

I just bought a new digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix ZS1 …

and took some test shots around Ballard this afternoon. As you’ll see, I need to spend some more quality time with this camera. Some of the shots are a bit blurry. That might be because I was juggling an umbrella as well as the [...]

KISS Cafe

2817 NW Market St., Ballard.
I haven’t had anything to eat or drink at KISS Cafe, I’ve just always liked this sign. The cafe has some vegetarian menu options, but nothing natively vegan. (The menu is available from their Web site — for some reason, it’s saved as a .zip file although it’s a single, two-page [...]

A what end?

Posted by steve in 26 Aug, 2009

Spotted this in Ballard, around 34th Ave. NW and NW 57th St.:

Obviously, this was originally a “Dead End” sign. I wonder if someone changed it to “Rear End,” and then someone else modified the first “R” into a “P.”
